Headaches and Migraines

Headaches are so common that they affect a lot of people, and can be very unbearable. Incorrectly alignment of neck bone can also cause headache which can lead to migraine. Medicines can treat the headache but don’t get to the main root cause. They can cause severe side effects. That’s why people prefer a safer and natural solution of their problems such as chiropractic.

The main problem cause is identified by the chiropractic. If the head is not properly supported by the neck bones, the nerves, muscles and blood supply to the head can get disturbed. Headache occurs when veins and arteries gets irritated or squished inside the brain.

Types of Headaches

Migraine headaches – Changes in vascular flow can cause migraine. Different reasons are there for improper vascular flow such as food, weather, hormonal changes, stress and different smells. Such kind of painful headaches begins with nausea or a halo effect called a visual aura.

Migraine is said to be a one sided pain. In migraine, there is inflammation in vessels which irritates the close nerve fibers. Then a message is provided back to the brain control center by the nerve fibers, which continues vessel stretching and resulting in a severe pain.

A headache chiropractor carefully diagnoses the neck and spine and adjustments are done to reduce nerve inflammation, thus reducing pain and with an improved vascular flow.

Tension Headaches – An increased muscle tension due to stress or angriness results in tension headaches. The neck, shoulders or head feels increased muscle tension. Response to such kind of stress is known as fight or flight response.

A disproportion is body can lead to more muscle pain and tension. A chiropractor can help in restoring the spine which will relatively relax tight muscles, thus providing improvement in the pain.

Cervicogenic Headaches – The pain that occurs in the cervical spine, upper shoulders or nerves of the neck is known as cervicogenic headache. This headache can be a result of whiplash, neck injury or muscle trauma. It can be due to poor posture or severe stress. This kind of headache mainly affects females.
